Great Beguinage

In 1998, the Great Beguinage was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was founded in the early 13th century. During its heyday in the 17th century, it was home to approximately 360 Beguines. During the tour, I'll tell you the entire story of the Beguinage: who were these beguines, why did they become beguines, how did they live, and especially how did they live together, how did the beguine community evolve over time, are there still beguines, who was the last beguine... I'll tell you all this and much more as we walk through the Beguinage.

You can participate in a scheduled public tour (€10/person) or you can book your own tour on a date of choice (€10/person - minimum €100).
