Ill in the Middle Ages

How did our ancestors cope with headaches, stomach aches, and toothaches? What was the treatment for a broken leg, pneumonia, or diarrhea? What did they do to protect themselves during cholera, plague, or typhoid epidemics? This walk is a story about doctors, surgeons, and quacks, about lighting candles and buying indulgences, about superstition and herbalism. And all of this, of course, in a Leuven context.
